Environmental Infographic
This was the second project in my Graphic Design I course, in which I had to design an environmental infographic, which incorporated key points, statistics, and a call to action on an environmental issue. I chose the environmental issue of eutrophication, which is when an aquatic environment becomes enriched with nutrients (usually caused naturally or by human-related input), which increases the amount of plant and algae growth on the surface of the water. I felt like this issue was relevant since it is common in places with large bodies of water, such as in Southwest Florida.
Preliminary Sketches
Moodboard (Color Palette and Typefaces)
For my color palette, since I was advocating for environmental awareness, I decided to go with natural earthly hues, such as greens, browns, and blues, and whites. I chose yellow to highlight key words and other important ideas in my text, since it contrasted well with the colors and brought dominance to whatever I applied it to. As for my typeface selection, I went with Nunito for my headers and sub-titles since it was easily visualized and worked well as a display font. For my body content, I chose Open Sans since it complemented and contrasted the rounded edges of Nunito.
